Do you take your dreams seriously? Does your subconscious know you are listening? Do you write them down? Record them? Interpret them? Talk about them with a friend? Maybe you should start.
If you were trying to talk to someone and they forgot everything you said a few hours later, would you continue talking?
Make the commitment to remember and record your dreams. Buy a journal and a new pen and keep it by your bed. If you don’t like to write, what about a digital voice recorder – can’t get any easier than talking to yourself! If you’re a painter, why not pastels and a small sketchpad? Dreams are visual – if you can draw what you see, even better.
I, myself, decided to help make room for my dreams by keeping no books or crossword puzzles beside my bed! Instead, I make the commitment to meditate before sleeping and record the dreams I remember in my journal every morning. Maybe while sitting on the front porch. I love California.
TODAY’S CREATIVITY CHALLENGE:
It’s a two-part challenge.
First, decide how you will record your dreams. Buy a new journal or decorate a blank notebook. Blow the dust off that tape recorder or designate an area of your house that will be your “remembering” spot. This isn’t set in stone. You can change your mind about how you will record your dreams – just pick one ritual for today that lets your subconscious know that you are serious about listening, right now!
Tonight, go to bed 10 or 15 minutes earlier than usual. Dim the lights, maybe listen to some soft music or use our “watering the garden” meditation to relax. When you are ready to sleep, say softly to yourself: TONIGHT, I AM LISTENING AND WATCHING. I WILL REMEMBER AND RECORD MY DREAMS.
Sleep well.
