Applications Invited for Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission Fellowship
Deadline: June 22, 2007

The Artist Trust/Washington State Arts Commission awards fellowships to practicing professional artists of exceptional talent and demonstrated ability. Fellowships of $6,500 are awarded in two-year cycles: Music, Media, Literature, and Crafts Fellowships are awarded in odd numbered years (2007), while Emerging & Cross-Disciplinary, Performing, Visual, and Traditional & Folk Arts Fellowships are awarded in even-numbered years (2008).

Applicants must be a practicing artist, 18 years of age or older by the application deadline date, and a resident of Washington State. Applicants may not be a graduate or undergraduate matriculated student enrolled in any degree program.

ASCAP Foundation Announces Grant Application Procedures for 2008 Funding
Deadline: August 1, 2007 (Letter of Inquiry)

The ASCAP Foundation ( http://www.ascapfoundation.org/ ), a publicly supported 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to supporting American music creators and encouraging their development through music education and talent development programs, funds its own programs and also provides grants to other 501(c)(3) organizations engaged in music education pro- grams for aspiring songwriters and composers. The foundation's grants average between $3,000 and $5,000 each. Grants are made on an annual one-time basis. Organizations that have already received funding from the ASCAP Foundation may apply in writing for renewed support as part of their required progress report, providing the request is for the same program and same dollar amount. If an organization that has already received funding from the foundation is requesting funding for a new program, a Letter of Inquiry is required. Applicant organizations must have 501(c)(3) status in order to submit a Letter of Inquiry. Awards for Commissioning and Premiering Emerging California Composers
Deadline: August 24, 2007

The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation ( http://foundationcenter.org/grantmaker/gerbode/ ) and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation ( http://www.hewlett.org/ ) are inviting applications to the 2007 Emerging Composers Awards Program, which supports the commission and premiere of major new musical compositions by California composers, age 35 or younger at the time of application. These works are to be com- missioned and premiered by nonprofit San Francisco Bay Area music and multi-discipline arts presenting organizations. The 2007 program will grant up to six awards of $50,000 to professionally oriented musical organizations and presenters that are based in the counties of San Francisco, Alameda, Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Contra Costa, San Mateo, or Santa Clara. Proposed commissions in any musical style (jazz, experimental, contemporary classical) or format (chamber, combo, orchestral, choir) will be accepted, but there must be a public premiere of the work(s) that makes it accessible to a general audience.

VSA arts and Volkswagen Announces National Juried Exhibition for Young Artists With Disabilities
Deadline: July 6, 2007

VSA arts ( http://www.vsarts.org/ ) and Volkswagen of America, Inc. ( http://www.vw.com/ ) have announced a call for Driven, a national juried exhibition for young artists with disabilities. The competition is open to young artists between the ages of 16 and 25 living in the United States who have a physical, cognitive, or mental disability. A disability is defined as an impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. The entered artwork must be an original work that has been com- pleted in the last three years. Eligible media include paintings and drawings (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, or charcoal), fine art prints (lithographs, etching, intaglio, or woodcuts), photography, computer-generated prints, and two-dimensional mixed media. The program will present a Grand Prize of $20,000; a First Award of of $10,000; a Second Award of $6,000; and twelve Awards of Excellence of $2,000 each.
