Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts Accepting Visiting Senior Fellowship Program Applications

The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the NationalGallery of Art ( http://www.nga.gov/resources/casva.shtm )announces its program for Paul Mellon and Ailsa Mellon BruceVisiting Senior Fellowships. Fellowships are for full-timeresearch, and scholars are expected to reside in Washington,D.C., and to participate in the activities of the center throughout the fellowship period.Applications will be considered for research in the history,theory, and criticism of the visual arts (painting, sculpture,architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, prints anddrawings, film, photography, decorative arts, industrial design,and other arts) of any geographical area and of any period.

Applications are also solicited from scholars in other discipl-ines whose work examines artifacts or has implications for theanalysis and criticism of visual form.Visiting senior fellowships are intended for those who have heldthe Ph.D. for five years or more or who possess an equivalentrecord of professional accomplishment at the time of application.Visiting senior fellowships are awarded without regard to the ageor nationality of applicants.

The center awards up to twelve short-term (up to 60 days) PaulMellon and Ailsa Mellon Bruce Visiting Senior Fellowships.Visiting senior fellows receive stipends that include round-triptravel and local expenses. Stipends for two-month fellowshipsrange from $6,000 to $8,000, depending on relocation require-ments. Visiting senior fellows may be eligible for a $1,500-per-month housing allowance.The center will consider appointment of associates who haveobtained awards for full-time research from granting institutionsother than their home institutions and would like to be affili-ated with the center. Appointments to associate status will beconsidered for periods of up to 60 days.The center is accepting applications for fellowships and associ-ate appointments for the period March 1 to August 31, 2008

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Invites Applications for Art in Public Spaces and Production Grants Programs

Made possible by a grant from the September 11th Fund, the LowerManhattan Cultural Council's ( http://www.lmcc.net ) DowntownCultural Grants are now in the third year of a major three-yearinitiative to rebuild and strengthen "the creative heart and soulof the city."

LMCC invites applications for the following programs:

Grants for Art in Public Spaces Program: Grants of up to $20,000each will support artists and arts organizations citywide toproduce art projects in the myriad public spaces of LowerManhattan, including building lobbies and atria, parks, andplazas. Applications will be accepted from individual artists,arts groups, or 501(c)(3) organizations with a significanthistory of creating and/or presenting arts or cultural program-ming. Individual artists must be working at a professional level,with a minimum three-year history of presentation in arts/cultural venues, or must demonstrate a record of prior accomp-lishments on a scale comparable to the proposed project. Organi-zations must have been in existence for at least three years, ormust demonstrate a record of prior accomplishments on a scalecomparable to the proposed project.

Production Grants Program: Grants of up to $20,000 each willprovide funding to organizations based in Lower Manhattan toaddress production-related costs for new or expanded public artsand cultural programming, including first-time presentations ofevents, or new components that significantly expand or enhanceexisting events. Applications will be accepted from 501(c)(3)nonprofit organizations or from collectives or arts groups with a501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Applicant organizations must have beenin existence for at least three years. Applications will not beaccepted from individuals.

Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Invites Applications for 2008 Individual Artists Fellowships
Deadline: August 1, 2007

The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts ( http://pacouncilonthearts.org ) is now accepting online applications to the 2008 IndividualArtists Fellowship program, which offers $5,000 to $10,000fellowships.

Discipline categories for this year's fellowship program are asfollows: Dance -- choreography; Folk and traditional arts --performing traditions and apprenticeships; Literature -- poetry;Media arts -- narrative and documentary; Music -- classicalcomposition; Theater -- scriptworks; and Visual arts -- drawing/artists books/printmaking or new technologies or painting.

Artists applying for a PCA Fellowship must be permanent residentsof Pennsylvania who have established residency for at least twoyears prior to the application deadline. Students in high school,undergraduate, or graduate programs at the time of applicationare ineligible to apply for a fellowship.Fellowships are distributed based upon demonstrated artisticexcellence.
