SUBMISSION OPPORTUNITY October 31 deadline

The Sky Cooper/Marin Theatre Company New American Play Prizes. Marin Theatre Company in Mill Valley, CA is pleased to announce two new monetary prizes for playwrights. The Sky Cooper Prize will be awarded to an established or emerging playwright. The winner will receive a full production at Marin Theatre Company and receive a $10,000 award, as well as travel and accomodations for the MTC rehearsal period. The Calicchio Prize will be awarded to a professionally unproduced playwright. The winner will receive two public staged readings at Marin Theatre Company and a $2,500 award, as well as travel and accomodations for the MTC rehearsal period. Proctor's Theater is inviting playwrights to submit new, full length plays for a new works/new plays festival which will be held in April 2008. SUBMISSION OPPORTUNITY: August 1 deadline

The Ma-Yi Writers Lab is now accepting membership applications for the 2007-08 Season. Currently led by Co-Directors Qui Nguyen and Lloyd Suh, the Lab is a professional peer-based workshop in permanent residence with the OBIE Award-winning Ma-Yi Theater Company, designed to nurture and showcase emerging and early-career Asian American playwrights in New York City. To apply, please submit the following: a cover letter with all relevant contact information; an artistic resume; a one-page artist's statement describing your interest in the Lab and how you hope it will benefit your work and your further development as a writer; and a writing sample or samples of any length (10 page minimum, no maximum), preferably recent work written for the stage.
