Brooklyn Arts Council Accepting Grant Applications

The Brooklyn Arts Council ( http://www.brooklynartscouncil.org/ ) will grant more than one hundred Brooklyn-based artists and nonprofit arts and/or community organizations funding of up to $5,000 each through the BAC 2007 Community Arts Regrant Program. Funding is for specific projects in the following areas: visual arts, film/video, media, photography, crafts, folk arts, multi- discipline, literature/writing, dance, music, opera, theater, and drama. In addition, through the JPMorgan Chase Regrant Program, funding will be provided for capacity-building projects for arts organizations. BAC cannot provide total funding for the appli- cant's project. Additional funding sources are required.
Applicant organizations must be Brooklyn-based, not-for-profit arts and community organizations recognized as tax exempt by the IRS under section 501(c)(3) or recognized under Article 7A as a NYS Charities Registration. Individual artist applicants must be Brooklyn residents. Applicants may submit up to three requests to BAC, totaling a maximum of $5,000, not including JPMorgan Chase. Eligible org- anizations can apply for an additional $3,000 from the JPMorgan Chase Regrant Program.
To apply, all applicants are required to attend a BAC Regrant Application Seminar, for either artists or arts organizations, to learn about guidelines and instructions. Visit the BAC Web site for guidelines and application seminars information.

New York Foundation for the Arts Announces Guidelines for Artists Fellowships Program
Deadline: October 3, 2007
For the past twenty-three years, the New York Foundation for the Arts ( http://www.nyfa.org/ ) has awarded Artists' Fellowships of $7,000 each to individual originating artists living in New York State and/or Indian nations located in New York State. NYFA is committed to supporting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds at all stages of their professional careers. In 2007, NYFA awarded 122 fellowships to 124 artists, with two collaborations. Applicants must be 18 years old or older and be a resident of New York State and/or one of the Indian nations located in New York State for at least two years prior to the October 3, 2007, application deadline.
Graduate or undergraduate students enrolled in any degree program at the time of the application deadline are not eligible to apply. For the 2008 program, the fellowship categories are Architecture/ Environmental Structures, Choreography, Fiction, Music Composition, Painting, Photography, Playwriting/Screenwriting, and Video. The following categories will not be reviewed until the 2009 program (deadline: October 2008) -- Computer Arts, Crafts, Film, Nonfic- tion Literature, Cross disciplinary/Performative Work, Poetry, Printmaking/Drawing/ Artists' Books, and Sculpture.

Southern Theater of Minneapolis Invites Submissions for Electric Eyes: New Music & Media Festival

The Southern Theater ( http://www.southerntheater.org/ ) in Minneapolis has announced the second year of Electric Eyes: New Music & Media Festival, a program that commissions and presents new work. The festival is intended to encourage collaboration across dis- ciplines and is seeking to commission works involving original music, new media, and multiple art forms. Up to five full- or partial-evening works (duration ten minutes up to full evening) will be selected to receive a commission fee ($2,500 to $5,000 each) and support services.
The festival takes place May 27- June 8, 2008, and grant recipients must be available for those dates. All or most of the collaborators must be from the Jerome Founda- tion's funding area (Minnesota and the five boroughs of New York City).
