Driehaus and MacArthur Foundations Announce Guidelines for Chicago-Based Arts Funding Program
Deadline: March 2, 2009; and June 1, 2009
Richard H. Driehaus Foundation ( http://www.driehausfoundation.org/) and the John D. and
Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation ( http://www.macfound.org/) have announced the seventh year of their funding program for Chicago-based arts and culture organizations.
The MacArthur Fund for Arts and Culture at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation is seeking applications from organizations that have budgets of $500,000 or less and reside in and serve the Chicago metropolitan area (Cook, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, Kane, and Will counties). Most grants will be in the range of $5,000 to $15,000 each. Generally, the fund will make operating support grants.
The deadline is March 2, 2009, for performing arts groups in theater, dance, and music, and June 1, 2009, for all other arts organizations, including visual and media arts, literary arts,
interdisciplinary arts, special projects, museums, and service, policy, or advocacy groups. The decisions for funding will be based on artistic contribution, potential for stability, and,
in some cases, growth and compelling mission. Applicants must have 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal agent with such status. The fund is not intended for arts education programs, or for community music groups and community theater organizations. It is also not intended for professional theater and dance companies with operating budgets of less than $150,000. Those companies should review the guidelines for the Small Theater and Dance Group Funding Project, available at the Driehaus Foundation Web site.
See the Driehaus Foundation Web site for complete program guidelines.
