Business Committee for the Arts Seeks Nominations for Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America

Sponsored by the Business Committee for the Arts ( http://www.bcainc.org/ ) and Forbes Magazine ( http://www.forbes.com/ ), the BCA Ten was created two years ago to honor businesses for their outstanding involvement in the arts. Selected by an independent panel of judges from the arts and business, the ten companies named to the BCA Ten offer funding, professional expertise, and innovative initiatives that advance the arts. Companies large and small that support the arts in the United States are eligible to apply. Tax-exempt not-for-profit organ- izations and companies in the BCA Hall of Fame are not eligible. Anyone can nominate a company for the BCA Ten.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Announces ArtsCONNECT Guidelines

The Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation ( http://www.midatlanticarts.org/ ) has announced the availability of guidelines for the 2007/2008 cycle of ArtsCONNECT, a program that supports performing arts tours through presenter consortia in the mid-Atlantic region. The program supports a limited number of touring projects pro- posed by presenter consortia in the region that involve public performances and complementary activities that provide audiences with a greater appreciation for the art. Participating presenting organizations must be located in the foundation's service area of Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia. Only presenter consortia are eligible to apply. For the pur- poses of this program, the foundation defines a presenter as an organization that selects and engages professional touring artists to perform work before audiences in their communities. Each presenter partner in the consortium must be a legally incorporated nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status or a unit of government. The presenter consortium must include at least three presenting organizations from at least two mid-Atlantic states. ArtsCONNECT projects must utilize professional touring artists from the performing arts disciplines, including dance, music, opera, theater, jazz, and folk/traditional arts that have been touring at least two years. Grants are to be used to partially cover the contracted artist's fee. ArtsCONNECT grants require a one-to-one cash match. Presenters must apply for a minimum of $500 per engagement Guidelines for ArtsCONNECT are available at the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Web site.
