Journalists Invited to Apply for Ted Scripps Fellowships in Environmental Journalism
Deadline: March 1, 2008
The Center for Environmental Journalism ( http://colorado.edu/journalism/cej/index.html ), an initiative of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Univer- sity of Colorado at Boulder, offers the Ted Scripps Fellowships in Environmental Journalism to help provide professional journal- ists with the knowledge necessary to cover the environment more effectively and enrich the public's understanding of this subject.
During the nine-month program, Scripps fellows audit classes, conduct in-depth research, and reflect on critical questions without the pressure of deadlines. Through seminars and field trips, the program brings participants together with leading environmental specialists. The fellowships cover tuition and fees.
In addition, a $47,000 stipend will be paid for the 2008-09 academic year. Five Ted Scripps Fellowships are awarded each year. The program is open to all full-time U.S. print or broadcast journalists interested in deepening and broadening their knowledge of envi- ronmental issues. Prior experience in covering the environment is not required.
