Video/Film/Dance: The OSU Department of Dance seeks dance professional actively engaged in combination of creative activity and theoretical inquiry with emphasis on video/film and dance (including dance documentaries, experimental dance for camera, dance documentation and archiving). Assistant Professorship. Advanced degree preferred, professional experience required. Starting: Autumn 2011. Due: September 20, 2010.
Welcome person currently connected to forefront of video art as relates to bodily expression, choreographic composition, has established relationships with professional field nationally, internationally. Value artist/teacher with interdisciplinary perspective excited by investigation of full range of possibilities for video as a creative and practical element of dance education/career. Strongly encourage applicants who diversify our curriculum and our faculty with regard to race, gender, and ethnicity. Will contribute in the following areas: research: creating, directing or re-imagining dances for camera, intermedia performances, hybrid creative research projects for the Web or DVD, ethnographic and documentary filmmaking related to dance and choreography; teaching: investigating video as creative, scholarly, and practical medium in dance, sharing fundamentals of choreographic craft for screen, instructing students in skills necessary for documentation of stage performances for professional development and historical concerns, contributing in other additional curricular areas as appropriate (production, dance composition, notation, history, theory, technique). Demonstrated expertise in use of digital video equipment for shooting (lighting, camera operation, sound) and range of post-production software desired; service: leadership in undergraduate and graduate programs, curriculum development, advising, and governance within department, college, university, and field.
